TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 24th edition of Saudi Arabia’s national Quran competition will be held in six categories, according to the organizers.

Saudi minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz al-Sheikh said the ministry has issued the directive for holding the preliminary round in Quran memorization centers across the country.

He said the final stage will be organized in the lunar Hijri month of Sha’aban (February-March 2023), Okaz daily reported.

Memorization of the entire Quran along with observing Qira’at (styles of recitation) and the rules of Tajweed, memorization of the entire Quran along with observing Qira’at and the rules of Tajweed as well as interpretation, memorization of the entire Quran along with observing the rules of Tajweed, and memorization of twenty, ten and five Juzes (parts) of the Quran are the categories of the Quranic event, he stated.

The ministry has allocated a total amount of 3.36 million Saudi riyals as cash prize for winners of different categories, he went on to say.

The contest is annually organized in Saudi Arabia to encourage Quran memorization and identify Quranic talents in the country.
